Antalya Obesity & Gastric Balloon
SPATZ3
Spatz3 is the world's only adjustable gastric balloon system, invented by Dr. Jeff Brooks. If your Body Mass Index (BMI) is over 27, you are an ideal candidate for the Spatz3 balloon.
WHY CHOOSE SPATZ3
While other balloons lose their functionality in 3 to 4 months, because the Spatz3 balloon's volume can be increased and is adjustable, it helps you establish long-term eating habits
Spatz Gastric Balloon
Once placed in the stomach, the Spatz balloon occupies about one-third of its capacity, keeping food in the stomach longer. This triggers satiety signals to the brain, helping you change your eating habits and achieve weight loss.

“Who Can Get a Gastric Balloon?”
“A gastric balloon can be placed in anyone who has weight problems and cannot achieve adequate weight loss on their own or with the help of our expert dietitian colleagues. There is no weight limitation for the gastric balloon. It can be applied to overweight individuals with a Body Mass Index above 25 kg/m² or obesity patients with a Body Mass Index above 30 kg/m².”
Does a Gastric Balloon Burst?
No high-quality gastric balloon with proven clinical results bursts in the sense you think. However, although very rare, in some cases it may leak.
In order to detect this early if it occurs, blue dye is added to the saline solution with which the gastric balloon is inflated, aiming for a greenish color change in the urine. When such a situation is noticed, it must be checked. In these cases, by performing a stomach ultrasound on the patient, it is possible to understand:
Is the gastric balloon still in its proper place?
Is its volume at a normal level?
If there is even the slightest doubt, it should be evaluated with endoscopy and, if necessary, the gastric balloon should be removed.
Is the Gastric Balloon a Risky Procedure?
The gastric balloon is the least risky weight loss method. It does not require long anesthesia. It is comfortably completed in 10 minutes. Patients can leave the hospital half an hour after the procedure. They can return to work immediately. It is completely reversible.
But of course, there are a number of risks belonging to the gastric balloon. The most important risk is the risk of not having sufficient weight loss. Another important issue can be considered as the rejection of the gastric balloon by the stomach and the resulting pain, nausea, and vomiting. In the first 1–2 days, these troubles usually improve completely and patients start a very nice process with the gastric balloon. However, in case of ongoing vomiting and strain, the gastric balloon may need to be removed earlier than expected, again through endoscopy.
Furthermore, in Adjustable (Spatz3) applications, the volume of the balloon can be adjusted in order to minimize the risks. That is, if the Adjustable (Spatz3) Gastric Balloon is not accepted by the stomach, an endoscopic intervention is made again and the balloon’s volume can be reduced to the desired level.
How Does a Gastric Balloon Work?
“It limits the amount of food that can be present inside the stomach and gives a sense of early satiety. Furthermore, by slowing down the movement of food from the stomach, it causes delayed gastric emptying and late hunger. Thus, calorie intake is decreased and weight loss is achieved.”
